🎧 Talking Mental Health & Integration: A Conversation That Matters
Is mental health still a taboo topic? Especially for refugee women navigating life in a new country?
In our latest podcast episode, Sofiia sits down with Evi from IKF Malmö – Internationella Kvinnoföreningen, to explore how mental health influences the integration process of women with refugee and migrant backgrounds. 🎙️💬
Together, they dive deep into cultural barriers, the importance of safe spaces, and how community-based support systems can make all the difference. The conversation sheds light on a powerful truth: while survival is often the priority, mental well-being is what allows people to truly thrive.

💡 What We’ve Learned
🧠Mental health still carries stigma.
Despite growing awareness, speaking about emotional struggles can still feel risky, especially for foreign-born women.
🌍 Cultural expectations can silence important conversations.
Many women prioritize job security, family, and adapting to new systems - leaving their well-being on the back burner.
🤝 Support systems matter.
Trusted environments, language-sensitive communication, and inclusive tools can help break the silence.
🧩 A Creative Tool That Helps: The Inclusive Minds Board Game
As part of the Inclusive Minds Erasmus+ project 🇪🇺, we co-developed an interactive board game that gently opens up the conversation on mental health.
Using relatable, everyday life situations, the game encourages women to share their experiences, support one another, and develop coping strategies - all in a playful, inclusive setting.
Whether it’s about stress at work, feeling isolated, or navigating new cultural expectations, the game creates space for real talk and real connection.
